It’s that time, time for a hiatus on scheduling posts until I’m back online on the 28th of this December, which would mark the tenth anniversary of this blog. So, posts going live from here until then will all be pre-scheduled.
I’ll continue to be active on blog maintenance and in responding to activity here from visitors to the site in the meantime.
I’ve lately seen a need to address my use of social media, including this blog, how I go about doing that. It would be nice to get more traffic on the site, but that’s a poor motivator, as I’ve health, physical as well as mental, to consider. Self-care takes precedence over page views.
The next few weeks and months will be busy as my family and our cats prepare to move out of the house in at least another year’s time. No details just yet until renovations are done and we get ready to sell the condo to move to a temporary place before our final residence out of state.
I’ll miss Virginia, where I’ve lived since 1974 at the age of ten, in short, most of my life. And I’ll miss the physical company of the IRL friends I leave behind, but I’ll continue to stay in online contact with all of you.
So, December 28 will see renewed post scheduling for the end of 2018, and for early 2019. I’ll be back, and I hope year’s end and the New Year see all of you in good health and high spirits, or at least better and higher ones given the terrifying shit-show of world news during the last three years.
Hey, all! Just letting you know that next week there will be no new posts on the site, and I’ll be editing, recreating, and taking down old pages, including the Fiction Links page. Otherwise, most of next week or the next two weeks will be spent attending to study, important projects, and personal matters that need addressing as well as blog maintenance. I’ll be back onsite with new updates before the end of October. I’m making good progress in study, so I’m satisfied with that, and I hope that things are also going well for those of you who visit my little blog now and then. Several of the fiction serials on this site will be deleted, or at least taken offline indefinitely, as you can read much better, cleaner versions of them in my published e-books on Amazon.
Well, it’s largely done, the largest bit of housekeeping on this site short of deleting all content and starting fresh. I didn’t go that route, simply because I think that some of the current content is worth keeping. So what exactly went on here while the site was private-access only?
For starters, I began by Trashing obviously worthless posts, and saving as Drafts those I might like to keep, as raw material to inspire newer and better entries. Toward the end of this, there were also those entries that gave no traction to the site, and in at least a few cases, had never brought in any traffic at all since first being posted some years ago. Zero page views. I have deleted video entries that are unwatchable for a variety of reasons, including having been deleted on the hosting site, deletion of the hosting account, having embedding disabled on the same, or being blocked for country, privacy, or copyright reasons. I’ve simplified several Categories for easier search reference, and deleted at least one. Doubtless at least a couple more will follow. Even many of my oldest (and most awful) fractal entries are now defunct. Most hadn’t been viewed since posting around eight years ago. I’ve saved as drafts several Pages on the site for future use. Yesterday, I’ve updated the Theme for this site to something decent, and am hiring a professional to craft a logo for this site’s brand. There will be tentacles involved, but I’m keeping the content of this blog largely PG.
I’m rarely satisfied by whatever my level of activity is, and many of you know that already from previous posts. But concern for my health and long-term well being dictates that I work to avoid putting too many aliens in my saucer. So, from here on, I’ll moderate time over the next two months while still posting and completing my study requirements. I’m almost done with my Bengali study goals, and nearly finished with Algebra II. But I’ll blog when I can, schedule posts when I’m able, and work to keep this blog one worth visiting.
Thanks for clicking on the site, and in proper abbreviated Soruggon….
Greetings, humans! This will be the next to last post before the site goes to private access only from the 16th of the month until the end of the 30th, when I restore public access to it. During that two week span, I’ll be doing some much needed housecleaning for the site.
I’ll revert to draft status those redeemable posts and pages with logical errors, factual errors, errors in spelling, grammar, and punctuation, to correct, update, and rewrite them. Those will then be brought back up when finished.
I’ll also be deleting posts of little value, those that are just awful, unwatchable video entries, and those by or about prominent figures in the atheist and skeptical movements whose alleged behavior has made it impossible for me to support them in good conscience.
The point is to streamline the site, which is an issue that’s concerned me for years, leading to my annoying bouts of ennui starting in 2011 and coming to a head in late 2016, so I’m finally going to do something about it.
Until that, I’ll continue scheduling posts until my next period of away time from blogging.
Ikktighar furiit – Greetings. It’s been a while. For the almost the whole of this month, and ending yesterday, I’ve been on staycation at home with the cats, while family is out of town for a break from Norfolk life. And each time, since there’s none but myself here to do housework and feed the cats, it’s consistently the nearest thing to solitude I’ve ever experienced. Much of that solitude is spent on writing, study, and practice of exercises from workbooks when not doing housework. So that being said, even with my time management skills, there’s precious little time to blog. I’m currently working on my next book, a nonfiction work to be published in e-format when complete and ready, and I’ll keep you up to date as I go. But with family back, maybe a little more of that time can be used to update this blog. I’d like that. I can’t promise regular posting, but I will post when I have something ready, and that’s well within my ability to fulfill.
Thanks to all of you who visit and follow this blog. You’re all brilliant, absolutely brilliant in your ways. And that’s no mere platitude: every one of you, without a doubt, knows something I don’t. And you’ve been so patient with my constant experimentation with different scheduling methods over the years, many ultimately unsustainable with my health needs and study requirements to consider. It’s time for Troythulu to roll up his eldritch tentacled sleeves and get to work, both online and off.
Namaskar, Oh Fine Hominins! Well, the worst of the weekend storm is past. So now that I’m back, I’m once again shifting gears, speeding up weekly posting on some blogs, reducing posting on others. But which some and which others?
First, I’m going to be posting every three to four days each week on this blog, once a week on the last week of the month (reading time for me!), about once a week on my blogger site the Collect Call of Troythulu, once monthly on the Checkerboards of the Gods, and less regularly on the Exohuman Journals, or the Prank Call of Troythulu, while taking spare hours working on updating the Unspeakable Blogs, and readying Memoirs of a Cat-Whisperer to go live with its first five posts. I’ve also created a new blog using my newly accessed, very first WordPress account, currently inactive and a wee bit inchoate until I decide what the heck to do with it. The account was originally used for my first blog, Troythulu’s Log, created on January 15, 2008, which lasted only slightly more than a year under several titles before it was fully replaced by this one in 2009.
I’d like to spend more time than I do blogging, but I’m currently involved with my first commissioned work on cover art for a book. I’m not at liberty to discuss details of the art prior to the author’s announcement of the book at least until everything’s ready. Otherwise I’ve been busy on non-blog writing, eZine submissions, and finishing work on redoing my solo Kindle ebooks: Dirge, Echoes of Forsaken Galaxies, and Fractal Shards. I’ll post a link and blurb for each here when they’re done and the updates are live on Amazon.
I’m considering getting a personal subscription on this blog once my finances are in order after buying the new laptop, which is well worth the expense in my view!
So stay cool, I’ll see you next week, and in the proper Kai’Siri . . . .
