David Keith’s unusual climate change idea

Here’s an idea: why not deal with climate change by dumping a cloud of ash into the upper atmosphere to deflect sunlight and heat?

  1. I think this is a very well presented idea. After reading about some of the alternatives in SI, in that article also it showed how sufuric acid spraying was cheap and effective. There is a moral hazard to all of this, but it does need to be looked at. These scientists instead of running from the problem, ala Al Gore (we must all stop using energy), are actually looking at sensible solutions to it. Solar powered street lights and LED interior lighting all make economic sense as well, even though the payoff is measured in years not months.
